Introduction

Hello! Welcome to our blog! My name is Hunter Rice, and along with my mother, Robin Rice, I hope to bring you fun and exciting quilt projects and Biblical encouragement. My Gramma started teaching me quilting when I was going into 3rd grade. Now, I am 22, about to graduate from the United States Naval Academy, become a submarine officer*, and get married. However, I have never lost my love of quilting and the unique skill that my grandmother and mother have patiently and lovingly taught me over these many years.

My mother is a dedicated High School math teacher at Benton Central High School in Indiana. She has taught, “patiently,” my younger sisters and I how to sew. She has slowly been transitioning to quilting now that her daughters have curves and are no longer willing to wear homemade clothes.

My amazing and strong Gramma was an avid lover of quilting, a fabricholic, and a Godly woman. She recently passed away on March 18th after an 8 year battle with Amyloidosis. God has truly blessed my family and I with many undeserved years with her. This blog is in memory of her and the many quilts and hearts she has touched.

As my grandmother has left many projects for my mother and me to finish, we look forward to sharing our journey into becoming as much of a wonderful quilter and fabric hoarder as my gramma was. We would love to see and hear the projects you have been working on or even those pesky projects that seem to never want to be finished, so feel free to contact us with stories, pictures, encouragement, or advice!! God bless you all and your quilting endeavors!

  1. Dear Hunter,
You would not remember me, but I have known you since you were born. I was a good friend of your grandma’s and was a fellow traveler with her to Paducah. I am also friends with Sharon Thompson. The pics of you and your grandma and mom are so precious! She was a fabulous lady and she is missed by several people. I am so thrilled and she would be too that you are carrying on the quilting tradition! If you ever need any help with anything please reach out to me! I have taught quilting and machine quilting for a long time. If you get stuck, I would be happy to help.
