Christmas Stockings and a New Year

Happy New Years! It’s never too late… or too early to start thinking about more Christmas projects! I know Christmas is over but I’m still feeling in the holiday mood, so I wanted to share with you the quick and easy stockings I made. I will start some none Christmas related projects soon… hopefully! I just love Christmas projects!

I made 5 stockings in total, 2 for my friends Haven and Sam who are big football fans (the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys), one for our puppy Rebel, and two matching ones for Zachary and I. These stockings were a fun and simple project that will take only a couple of hours to finish. I did finish them before Christmas!

If you would like to make these quilt as you go stockings, Super Mom No Cape! has great directions on her Quilt as You Go Christmas Stockings post. If you have any questions or would like more instructions on how I did the applique on my stockings, feel free to reach out! I would love to answer your questions!

You may be wondering why I decided to make a cow and a bull on the last two stockings. I started drawing these characters representing my fiancé and I. He really loved them and asked if I could make our characters kissing on our stockings, so this is the best that I could do.

I pray that you are refreshed and ready for this new year. Even if you are not, rest in the comfort that you are made new in Christ. Reflecting back on this year, I have personally been through a lot of trials and stress that I was not expecting. Every year comes with highs and the lows, but this year seemed to have more lows than normal as I know many of you have experienced. Despite all of the struggles, I find joy in the knowledge that God is a good good Father who has a far greater plan that I could ever image. Christ never promised me an easy and pain free life after I submitted my life to him. Rather, Christ says to his disciples before he is crucified, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” ~John 16:33. Christ suffered, and our suffering can make us more like Christ if we allow him to work in us. Paul says, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice is so far as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed” ~1 Peter 4:12-13. I can’t promise that the you will be able to see why you are experiencing pain right now. I wish I knew, but I can promise that Christ offers you true peace when you place your life in his loving hands. If you have questions about who Christ is and why he loves you, please reach out. He is our source of life, and He desires to know you!

Happy New Year and happy quilting!!
