We are His Creation

“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” ~ Gen 1:27

Long time, no post! Seems like I start a lot of my posts apologizing that it has been so long since I posted! I hope everyone has been happily quilting their summer away or enjoying the beautiful weather!

To catch up very quickly, I have moved the across country to the state of Washington where I started my new job! I had a wonderful time driving across the country with my Grandpa. We stopped in Quilting, USA which was definitely a highlight of the trip. We also stopped at some gorgeous landmarks. This waterfall was in Twin Falls, ID. We visited Arches National Park, which was so beautiful. Seeing the country via car really made me appreciate the vastness of this land and the creativity of our Creator!

Last post (back in January!), I talked a little about us being God’s workmanship or masterpiece. Today, I want to continue the theme a little bit and discuss what it means to us to be God’s creation. As quilters, we can relate to creating something with our hands that brings us joy! Even if you are not a quilter, you have still created something through your work or hobby. As the creator, we define our creation by choosing the size, theme, color, etc. We painstakingly pick our fabrics that match and piece by piece our creation comes to life. We are not perfect, so a lot of time our creations have imperfections, but those blocks do not just happen to come together. How great is it that our Creator is perfect! He created us in His own image and our “imperfections” are a result of the fall and sin. Sew if we quilters define our creation, God as our Creator defines His creation, us!

I love Bob Ross, and he creates beautiful paintings, but luckily, unlike some of his trees, we are not happy little accidents. God has given us an identity by creating us. John 1:12-13 says, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” As followers of Christ, our identity is not found in our flesh or earthly desires, but is found in our relationship with God. It is not earned, but freely given to us through the death of Christ on the cross for our sins. We are God’s children! This is our identity! I do not know about you, but I am so thankful that my identity is not based on anything I can say or do.

Scriptural truths: We are children of God (John 1:12), We are chosen and adopted (Eph 1:4-5, Rom 8:15-17), We are united with Christ (1 Cor 6:17), We are part of the Body of Christ (1 Cor 12:27), We are chosen, royal priesthood, and holy nation(1 Peter 2:9), just to name a few!!

My star chain quilt is finally finished and is now in its forever home! I finished it before I moved, but have not been able to share a finished product. I would love to hear about projects you all have been working on, so please feel free to comment or email me! There are deeper truths to be found in the Bible about your identity and relationship with Christ. I encourage you to dive deeper into the Word and into prayer to see what God has to teach you today. As always, if you have any questions, quilting or Biblical, please reach out! Love you all and thank you for reading! Happy Quilting!

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” ~ Gal 2:20
