In the Black and White

Are you ever working on a project and just think to yourself, “I wish this was just black and white!” Most of us would say very rarely. We are quilters, and we love color! In life, we do wish things were just a little more black and white. Life is complicated! What’s not complicated? God loves you. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” ~John 3:16 This is the Good News, the Gospel! God values us, and He wants us to be saved. We should be excited to tell everyone we know the good news of Jesus! With faith in Him, your sins are washed clean by the blood of Jesus. Knowing you are loved by Jesus is the difference between black and white with a little red.

Quilting TIP: When trying to order similar fabric colors from dark to light, take a picture and turn it black and white. This may make it easier to tell when one fabric contrasts with the other one. I did this with my current project. I am working with browns and blues. I separated the fabric into two piles and laid them out in dark to light. I then took a picture and used the edit tool to view the fabric in mono colors. This may help you if you are having a hard time, but you may be like my husband and just able to automatically know when a color is out of place!

As I make this quilt, I am changing the order just a little based on how the blue goes with the associated brown. I am making the “Breezy Windmills” from Missouri Star Quilting Company. Instead of the white background, I am using the blues. The windmills from top left to bottom right will be dark brown to light brown, and the blues will be going the opposite direction. At least this is my hope. I have three packs of Bali Pop 2 1/2” strips Brown Sugar collection. These came from my Gramma’s stash, and I hope to make a quilt worthy of whatever inspired her to buy this fabric. Remember, God love’s you and happy quilting!
